Introducing 4160 Sample Lane

A Remodeled Home Near Old Farm

Hi, my name is Mason Sample.  I own the house here at 4160 Sample Lane.  I don't live there.  I bought it to fix it up and sell it to a somebody who would appreciate the fine detail work we (my wife and I) put into the house. 

Here's the story of this house. 

When we found the house, it had been terribly abused.  A few years ago, this home was owned by an elderly woman who began the process of rehabbing this house that was originally built in 1975.  She put some new vinyl-clad windows in the front of the house and put new oak cabinets in the kitchen.   New windows are always great in an older house.  They help the house look better, they work better, and they are much more energy efficient (they keep the cold air cold and the hot air hot).  Eventually, the woman's son bought the house from his mom.  He lived there for a while, but eventually he decided to move and keep the house as a rental home.

That didn't work out so well.  Being a landlord can be a very difficult process.  He rented it out to friends and didn't get a security deposit.  Let's just say they are not friends anymore.  The carpet was ruined, the walls were dirty.  Here is where we enter the story.

We bought the house in April of 2007 in order to refurbish the house and make it livable again.  But we wanted to do more; we wanted to make this house exceptional.  We succeeded.

The house today.

We tore out the old vinyl and the old cruddy carpet and replaced it with tile and cut-Berber carpeting.  You can see the tile and carpeting in the picture of the dining room and living room.

We went through and replaced every door in the house.  We also put new trim and crown moldings in the entire house.  We replaced every light fixture with brushed nickel fixtures and made sure every door handle and knob on the cabinets matched. 

Then we noticed something.  The prior owner had only replaced the windows in the front of the house, so we put in all new windows in the back and made sure they matched. 

We didn't want to give you just a plain paint job with the same old whites, so we painted the walls with Tuscany Tan and the ceilings with Old World White.  It turned out so great.  And just to take it to a whole new level, my wife hand-troweled the island in the kitchen and the wall in the living room.  She really put her heart into making this beautiful.  In the kitchen, we added all new stainless-steel appliances, including a refrigerator, stove, microwave oven, and a dishwasher.

She also painted the fireplace in the family room with the same Tuscany Tan.  It really stands out.  You will enjoy sitting in the family room and enjoying a fire.  It is such a peaceful house. 

We also completely remodeled both bathrooms, putting all new tile in the baths, new fixtures, and new vanities.  We left the jetted tub in the main bathroom.  My wife loves to relax in her jetted tub, and we're hoping you will enjoy yours just as much.

The house is a bi-level home with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.  It would be a great home for any family.  There is a gorgeous deck with a hot tub built in that we made sure was working.  You can really enjoy entertaining on this deck and just relaxing in your hot tub on a summer (or winter) evening.
